Renovations & Additions
Renovating older homes is a tricky business. How do you provide an environment for modern living while maintaining the integrity of the original structure? How do you repair or reproduce intricate details like exposed eaves or period moldings? Are historic tax credits available, and how do you take advantage of them? We’ve met these challenges many times over the years, with the help of our fine craftspeople and experienced subcontractors.

One of the most important (yet hardest to accomplish) goals when expanding a home is making it seamless. Since 1985, H & N Custom Homes has built over 200 additions. Some clients have asked us to return for three or four different projects. We know how to match the old to the new, and make the addition appear as if it’s been part of the house forever.

New Homes
For more than 20 years, we’ve been building new homes all over Piscataway, New Jersey. The styles range from Colonial to Craftsman Bungalow to Bauhaus Modern, but each is as unique as the families who live within. What they all have in common is superior craftsmanship. Whether it’s a contemporary detail in exotic wood or a traditional molding assembled with utmost care, each is a labor of love.

Design/Build
We built our business as a general contractor, building and renovating houses according to architects’ plans. Increasingly, though, homeowners come to us with construction projects in mind, without specific plans or drawings. With our Design/Build option, H & N Custom Homes can be part of the process from the start, working with the client and architect in the interest of time, quality, and budget management.

Outdoor Living Spaces
A garage, workshop, patio or studio can add valuable living or working space to a home. It can even become the most interesting part of that home. Whether we’re building a 600 square foot garage or 6000 square foot home, we understand the importance of the investment you are making in your property. A Project Manager will be with you every step of the way, overseeing the process to insure that no detail or request that you make is overlooked.

Sustainable Building Practices
We have known for a long time the importance of energy efficiency, recycling, and the quality of our air and water. As our world learns more about the environmental challenges ahead, H & N Custom Homes is prepared to incorporate as much “green” into your project as you desire, or that your budget will allow.
