Fair Play  designer with H & N Custom Homes

This kitchen and bathroom remodel brought a home built century. The kitchen was a complete redesign with an entirely new layout that not only improved the look and feel of the home, but also greatly improved the functionality of the kitchen. By moving the sink from a window that looked onto a boring row of bushes and the neighboring house, to a window that overlooks the entire backyard, the kitchen now not only looks bigger, but now provides that at home feel. Call Us : (609) 488-1898

Rather than eliminating the window where the sink was and installing a traditional solid surface stove backsplash, we moved the window opening slightly higher, installed a double hung window (tempered for safety) and an island style glass range hood. This unique design allowed us not only to maintain a large amount of natural light in the kitchen, which was extremely important to the homeowner, but also provided a very functional custom kitchen within the size constraints of an older North Tacoma home. The back door, fridge, and dishwasher were also all relocated to improve functionality and aesthetics.

We also took advantage of the opportunity to make the home more energy efficient during the project by installing new insulation in all areas that would not normally be accessible except during construction, replaced all of the original windows with new double pane windows, replaced the old galvanized pluming with new PEX plumbing, and updated the lighting throughout the home.

Project Features:

Eliminated a door between the kitchen and dining room and turned it into an arched opening that matched the original lathe and plaster opening on the other side of the dining room.
Recessed and energy efficient lighting
New custom cabinets complete with pull out spice drawers, custom sized shelving, soft closed hardware and under cabinet lighting.
Solid slab, custom fabricated granite installation. All countertops are completely seamless!
New tile floors installed with the Schluter DITRA uncoupling system.
Mosaic Glass and tile backsplash
New insulation in all exterior walls where plaster was removed and replaced with drywall
Blown in insulation in the otherwise non accessable attic. The homeowner has stated that previous to the insulation there was a drastic difference in temperature between upstairs and downstairs that has been completely eliminated.
